At high magnification, it can reveal that agglomerates are composed of many smaller, well-defined primary particles. Primary particles often exhibit regular geometric shapes (e.g., spherical, cubic), while agglomerates have irregular shapes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Microscopia elettronica a trasmissione (TEM): offre una risoluzione pi\u00f9 elevata rispetto alla SEM, consentendo un&#039;osservazione pi\u00f9 chiara delle frange reticolari e della struttura interna delle particelle primarie, nonch\u00e9 una misurazione precisa delle loro dimensioni. \u00c8 considerata il gold standard per distinguere tra particelle primarie di dimensioni nanometriche e i loro agglomerati.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Conclusione:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nelle micrografie elettroniche, le unit\u00e0 con confini netti e continuit\u00e0 interna sono identificate come particelle primarie. Le strutture composte da pi\u00f9 unit\u00e0 di questo tipo, impacchettate insieme in modo pi\u00f9 o meno stretto, sono considerate agglomerati secondari.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2) Tecniche di analisi granulometrica<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Metodi:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Analizzatore granulometrico a diffrazione laser: questo metodo misura il diametro idrodinamico delle particelle in un mezzo (solitamente liquido) tramite diffusione della luce. Misura la dimensione apparente degli agglomerati in stato disperso. Se la dimensione misurata mediante diffrazione laser \u00e8 significativamente maggiore della dimensione delle particelle primarie osservata tramite microscopia elettronica, ci\u00f2 indica una significativa agglomerazione secondaria del campione in acqua o solvente.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 La diffrazione a raggi X (XRD) analizza l&#039;allargamento dei picchi di diffrazione dei cristalliti. I ricercatori\/noi possiamo applicare l&#039;equazione di Scherrer a queste misurazioni per calcolare la dimensione dei cristalliti delle particelle primarie. Questa dimensione dei cristalliti riflette il dominio di scattering coerente all&#039;interno del cristallo e non \u00e8 influenzata dall&#039;agglomerazione fisica.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Conclusione:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Confrontare la dimensione dei cristalliti calcolata tramite diffrazione a raggi X con la dimensione degli agglomerati misurata tramite diffrazione laser \u00e8 un metodo classico per distinguere tra i due. Se sono simili, ci\u00f2 indica una buona dispersione, con il materiale presente prevalentemente sotto forma di particelle primarie. Se queste ultime sono molto pi\u00f9 grandi delle prime, ci\u00f2 suggerisce la presenza di una forte agglomerazione secondaria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3) Analisi dell&#039;area superficiale specifica (metodo BET)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Metodo:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Il metodo BET determina l&#039;area superficiale specifica delle particelle misurando l&#039;adsorbimento del gas. Questo metodo consente di calcolare la dimensione teorica delle particelle primarie per particelle sferiche utilizzando la formula <em>Dimensione delle particelle \u2248 6 \/ (Densit\u00e0 \u00d7 Area superficiale specifica)<\/em>, partendo dal presupposto che tutte le particelle siano sfere indipendenti.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Conclusione:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Confrontare la dimensione delle particelle calcolata tramite il metodo BET con i risultati della microscopia elettronica o della diffrazione a raggi X. Se la dimensione derivata dal BET \u00e8 inferiore, potrebbe indicare la presenza di pori o rugosit\u00e0 superficiale nelle particelle. Se \u00e8 vicina alla dimensione primaria delle particelle misurata con altri metodi, i due metodi si corroborano a vicenda. Se la dimensione effettiva misurata da un analizzatore granulometrico \u00e8 molto maggiore del valore derivato dal BET, ci\u00f2 dimostra nuovamente l&#039;esistenza di agglomerazione.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4) Test di dispersione e ultrasuoni<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Metodo:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Disperdere il campione di polvere in un solvente adatto e osservare dopo la sedimentazione. Una rapida sedimentazione che forma un pellet duro indica tipicamente una forte agglomerazione. Successivamente, sottoporre la sospensione a trattamento a ultrasuoni.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Conclusione:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Se la dimensione delle particelle misurata tramite diffrazione laser diminuisce significativamente e si avvicina alla dimensione delle particelle primarie rilevata tramite microscopia elettronica o diffrazione a raggi X dopo l&#039;ultrasonazione, ci\u00f2 rivela che in precedenza si era verificata una debole agglomerazione secondaria, fragile per effetto di forze esterne.
