Puede sublimar en alto vac\u00edo a 400 \u00b0C. El tri\u00f3xido de antimonio es un polvo cristalino blanco, conocido industrialmente como blanco de antimonio. Es ligeramente soluble en agua, \u00e1cido sulf\u00farico diluido y \u00e1cido n\u00edtrico diluido, pero soluble en \u00e1cido clorh\u00eddrico, \u00e1cido sulf\u00farico concentrado, \u00e1lcalis fuertes y soluciones de \u00e1cido tart\u00e1rico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El tri\u00f3xido de antimonio de alta calidad presenta baja toxicidad. Generalmente se combina con oxidantes como el nitrato de sodio (NaNO\u2083) o el nitrato de potasio (KNO\u2083). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En el vidrio de silicato s\u00f3dico-c\u00e1lcico, se utiliza como agente clarificante una combinaci\u00f3n de Sb\u2082O\u2083 de 0,181 TP\u2083 a 0,51 TP\u2083T con de 4 a 8 veces su peso en nitrato de sodio. A temperaturas m\u00e1s bajas, reacciona con el ox\u00edgeno liberado por la descomposici\u00f3n del nitrato de sodio para formar pent\u00f3xido de antimonio (Sb\u2082O\u2085). A temperaturas ligeramente m\u00e1s altas, el Sb\u2082O\u2085 se descompone, liberando ox\u00edgeno. Este ox\u00edgeno altamente activo se difunde en burbujas de gas de diversos tipos dentro del vidrio fundido, lo que provoca que las burbujas se expandan y asciendan, favoreciendo as\u00ed la clarificaci\u00f3n del vidrio. Esto se debe a que el Sb\u2082O\u2085 libera ox\u00edgeno a temperaturas m\u00e1s bajas, mientras que el pent\u00f3xido de ars\u00e9nico (As\u2082O\u2085) lo hace a temperaturas m\u00e1s altas.
