Ultra-Fine Activated Carbon Grinding with Air Classifier Mill

A major Chinese activated carbon producer approached Epic Powder with a challenging requirement: achieve D99 ≤ 16 µm ultra-fine powder at a production rate exceeding 4.5 tons per hour while maintaining narrow particle size distribution and high activation performance. After detailed material testing at Epic Powder’s laboratory, the MQW200 horizontal fluidized bed jet mill was selected as the optimal solution. Powered by high-speed jet and precise German-engineered classifiers, the system delivered outstanding results for activated carbon grinding from day one .

The customer particularly praised the MQW200’s advanced temperature control system, which prevented thermal degradation of activated carbon’s pore structure during high-speed grinding. The fully automated PLC control and remote monitoring further reduced labor costs and ensured consistent quality.

Since commissioning in 2024, this single MQW200 line has become the customer’s flagship ultra-fine activated carbon production unit, supplying high-value products for automotive carbon canisters, pharmaceutical purification, and gold recovery applications. This project once again demonstrates Epic Powder’s leadership in high-capacity, ultra-fine jet milling technology, delivering superior fineness, higher yields, and lower energy consumption for demanding industrial applications.

Key Performance Achieved:

Material: Activated carbon

Product Fineness: D99 = 15.8 µm
