Jet Mill Grinding Project For Alumina In Shanghai

The client required the ultra-fine grinding of calcined alumina. The raw material had an initial particle size distribution of D50: 18.1 µm, D97: 55.54 µm. The key technical challenge was to achieve the finest possible particle size without compromising production stability or product uniformity. The alumina grinding test was conducted using Epic Powder‘s integrated system of a disc jet mill and a cyclone separator.

After processing through the disc jet mill system, the alumina powder exhibited a remarkable reduction in particle size. It can achieve a much finer and more uniform distribution. The results represent a size reduction of over 80% in D50 and over 82% in D97, fully meeting the client’s requirement. The disc jet mill’s high-speed rotating disc creates intense particle-on-particle and particle-on-liner collisions, making it particularly effective for hard, crystalline materials like calcined alumina. Combined with precise airflow control, the system ensures narrow particle distribution and avoids over-grinding or thermal degradation.

This test demonstrates the exceptional capability of Epic Powder’s disc jet mill system in processing highly abrasive materials into fine, consistent powders. The reduction in particle size highlights the efficiency, precision, and reliability of our grinding technology for advanced ceramic and material applications.

The exceptional fineness and uniformity impressed the client. It exceeded their expectations for processing this hard, abrasive material. Based on the performance in this test, the client ordered one complete set of the disc jet mill system. This successful project underscores the precision and reliability of Epic Powder‘s grinding technology in meeting demanding industrial requirements.
